I am grateful and thankful that my bundle of joy made it here safe and sound!
Not only was baby #3 a surprise, he came into this world unexpectedly too!
On Monday, Feb 11th, I had a normal 38 week appointment. I was supposed to go in, get weighed, blood pressure checked and the fetal heartbeat monitored. Well, while I was getting the baby's heartbeat monitored I had a contraction. While the contraction was happening, the baby's heartbeat went down for 1 minute. The doctor didn't like that, so he sent me to the hospital to be monitored. I was upset because I wanted to go to work. I get to the hospital and the heartbeat is fine but the contractions keep coming. The contractions are only Braxton Hicks so I never got nervous. After a couple hours of monitoring, the nurse said my doctor wants me to get an ultrasound and if all is well I can leave.
They rolled me downstairs and I was able to see my baby. The nurse said the baby looks good but the doctor needs to look at the screen. Ugggghhhhhhhh! So the hospitals doctor comes in and says, "I have good news and bad news, depending on how you look at it." I was so nervous, but he proceeded to talk. "The good news, is the baby is fine. The bad news is, there is not enough amniotic fluid around the baby so I believe it's in your best interest to have the baby today. You are far enough that they baby will be just fine." I literally had that, "What You Talkin' 'Bout Willis?" look on my face. I said, "So, ummm what are you saying?" He then looked at me like I was crazy, "You are having a baby today!"
They rolled me back upstairs and told me, I will be having the baby in 90 minutes! WHAT! I had to call my husband, my job (well I didn't call them!), my mom, make sure my kids are taking care of. It all happen so fast. I didn't have a bag packed. My husband had to rush home and just grab stuff. And he made it just in time to be there and hold my hand for the birth. They started preparing me right away to have the baby. I was nervous. I was shaking. Mostly because I was going to the hospital for a normal check up and now about to have a baby!
Well, I had my son via C Section and he is a healthy, beautiful baby boy.
I literally want to thank everyone that did anything for me during this pregnancy from the bottom of my heart. It was a blessing not to go through this pregnancy alone. Writing this weekly Motherhood Monday post has allowed me to meet so many great people (in person and online) that genuinely cared. When I found out I was pregnant, I didn't have ONE THING for a new baby. We weren't expecting anymore children. When I gave birth to my son, we had EVERYTHING he NEEDED at the time of birth and we didn't come out of our pockets at all. Whether it was a gift from friends, blogger events/giveaways or from the baby shower - the baby was truly blessed and I give God the Glory for it.
I am so thankful for the emails, text, fb & calls throughout my pregnancy. You don't know how much it touched my heart to get a text or call that says, "I am just checking on you and the baby!" "How are you feeling today?" "Do you need anything?" It was all such a pure blessing.
Well, Motherhood Monday will not stop and I welcome you to continue to visit as a whole new chapter has started. I am now the mother of three and I am really not sure what challenges lie ahead. First thing is, I want to lose this baby weight! I have gone down 25 lbs since giving birth and desire to go down 30 more at the minimum. I can't work out (per the doctor) for 6 to 8 weeks, but I can walk and eat right. I am breastfeeding, so I know that knocks off weight too.
I also want to thank Kimberly Murray for taking these lovely photographs of my son.
These are just a sneak peek, and will show you more when they are ready!
